Joe Lake and Joseph Carbone with Eye Care For Kids
Children’s Miracle Network Co-Founder Joseph Lake Continues to Make a Difference As Chairman of the Board of Trustees
Salt Lake City, Utah (April 15, 2010) – Joseph G. Lake, co-founder of the Children’s Miracle Network (retired), has just been nominated and accepted the Chairman position of the Board of Trustees for Eye Care For Kids.
Eye Care For Kids is a 501(c)(3), charitable, not-for-profit organization established in 2001. Since their inception, the organization has administered humanitarian relief to over 25,000 visually impaired, low income children and underserved families by providing professional eye care. Eye Care For Kids has a clinic which operates daily providing optometric and optical services and sees up to 600 patients monthly.
Eye Care For Kids is the first organization in several years to lure Lake into, not just a board position but into, accepting a Chairman-ship.
Lake brings with him over 30 years experience working for or on behalf of many not-for-profit organizations, a tenacious will to make the world a better place and an impressive list of contacts.
“When I first met with Joe, [the friend who introduced us] said ‘This will be the most important lunch you’ll ever buy.’ ” says Joseph Carbone, founder and president of Eye Care For Kids. “Was he ever right! Getting Joe to accept our request as Chair, committing to at least four years of assistance, and helping us make the changes necessary to grow our ability to help more kids and families with the gift of eye care and vision, was a dream come true. Eye Care For Kids is in great hands.”
Just tonight, Lake was nominated by the other board members, accepted the nomination and was voted in favorably. “Children’s Miracle Network started as a dream with John Schneider, Marie Osmond and Mick Shannon – a vision for helping sick and injured kids and look at what we’ve accomplished. Now I just want to help Joseph realize his dream.” Lake says, humbled by the nomination, “We’re all here to help the kids. As an eyeglass-wearer myself since 3rd grade, I know how important it is for every child to be able to see the chalkboard at school.”
